It’s already Valentine’s Day again.
Kinda snuck up on me, it did. Damn, I hate when that happens.
Maybe I’ll get myself some flowers. Maybe I’ll walk around with big red lips in honor of the occasion.
Maybe I’ll pretend I don’t know what day it is at all.

Totally random, but kinda not: I have to know what color that is! I’m thinking it’s a MAC or NARS color but I can’t place it. It’s gorgeous. I think I have every red MAC makes and I still don’t think I have a color that looks that nice on me. Spill it! And Happy Valentine’s Day!

CG: It is actually Chanel Rouge Hydrobase in Vamp. I got it in Chicago on the last trip, and I fretted a bit over spending $55 on my lips (stick+liner), but then I put it on and my doubts were no more.
It is the only red I own, because I have a big-ass mouth and red only highlights that fact. But lemme tell ya, if you’re only going to own one, this is the way to go!
See, I used to have Vamp and I swear it didn’t look like that on me! But Chanel rocks, especially the Glossimers. I love reds on my big ass mouth and I’m always in search of the perfect one. I might have to give Vamp another look-see!
I would think the Vamp would be gorgeous on you, so you should def. give it another go. I actually kinda halve the color potency by applying to my top lip and then blotting the pigment onto the bottom by pinching my lips together. Then I actually also blot with tissue, so that could be the diffence. If I were to go full-strength on this it would be a lot darker, I think.
I haven’t tried the Glossimer, though. Maybe when I haul myself out of debt (okay, return my account to its former splendor) I’ll get some.
I’m really clueless when it comes to wearing red lipstick, only because I don’t know what colors to wear with it on the rest of my face. So that reason, I find red lipstick somewhat a tricky color to wear.
Shasta: The rule of thumb is supposed to be that if you wear a bold lip, you do a neutral eye. Although women of color generally are able to “carry” more color and can do bold lips and eyes (i.e. smokey eye AND red lip).
That said, I usually stick with neutral eyes (taupe color, eyeliner and mascara) if I’m doing a red lip.
Sid has completely inspired me today and I’m wearing the closest thing I have to Vamp — MAC Diva lipstick (blotted) with MAC Fanplastico lip lacquer on top.
