It cut me deep. It cut me real deep.

Not: The editor proceeded to compliment me on an article someone else wrote. I’m not even sure she meant to call me. I envision a scenario in which she had two columns on a note pad, one reading “Call re: July issue” and the other reading “Do not accept calls, acknowledge emails, or allow beyond reception,” and, coming up on the 3 o’clock caffeine slump, she just got confused. *banging head* Damn, damn, damn.
But! My newfound focused 29-year-old zen prohibits the time-sucking distraction that is attempted clairvoyance, so I will still be sending in clips and pitching a thing or two.

My new budget has led me to renew a library card I’d allowed to expire. I was easily spending $50-100 per month on books when I was working full-time, so this will provide all the enjoyment with huge cost savings. I love the library. First item on my literary menu: Kyra Davis’s Sex, Murder and a Double Latte.

I wish I could say this Chanel nail polish isn’t special, but it is. I put it on the day I got it and still no chips, high gloss. Just to ensure I wouldn’t be biased, I applied some L’Oreal Jet Set polish in Boogie, a similarly luminescent black shade, and the finish didn’t even come close. (It’ll do for a quickie pedicure, though.)

I made these gingerbread cookies for my family and they were to die for: soft, buttery, deliciousness. Sometime tomorrow, between job applications and pitch writing, I’ll be baking up another batch or two. I’d like to tinker with the recipe to scale back some of the sugar and fat, but I’m not sure that won’t be disgusting. My dad suggested I add peanut butter, but that’s kind of his stock answer for sweets. His stock suggestion for savories? Onions.

ahhh the library. i didn’t think of that place. lOl. thanks for the idea.
Ah editors are so fickle. It’s so hard to know what they want, when they want it. But You are taking the right approach, I think, using every opportunity as a new “in” to pitch again.
And I want some of that Chanel black nailpolish. Like now!
G: I know, right? LOL. The library is the hotness. It has videos, too. So long, Netflix!
K: Fortunately, she called again today and threw some freelance work my way, so I actually was the person she meant to call. I think. Either way, yay, more work!
Yay! More work!
You know what…the library is not your mother’s library. You can schedule computer time online, order books without even walking through their doors and rent fairly recent DVDs. It’s the poor man’s paradise.
