All TJX Company stores are not created equal.

The Marshalls in Kalamazoo has so much more going for it than the ones in Chicago. Gorgeous HOBO carryalls under $100? Why, yes, yes they’ve got those, in two different styles and colors, and if you want to throw in another $20, you could get even more baggy bang.

I skipped the bags because frankly, I haven’t got a hundred to spare on a something I don’t truly need (and already have in avocado green, anyway), but I went nutty in the beauty section. Remember my Freddy Fekkai testimonial a few years back? I loved that stuff, but it tends to run about, oh, double what I pay for my usual costly conditioner. When I moved to Chicago, I took a pay cut for my sanity boost, so Fekkai is generally out of the question. Except, they had the shea butter hair mask at the Kalamazoo Marshalls for $12.99. $12.99! So I bought two. I just treated myself to 30 minutes of deep conditioning, and let me tell you, my hair now bears no resemblance to the crow’s nest I’ve been rocking for the past few months. Even with my hard water situation, my hair is soft and shiny and spiraled perfectly. Miraculo! If I find any on sale in the Chicago area stores, I’m cleaning them out. Seriously. If I see someone in the store eyeballing it, I will charge them down and pry it from their grip, sweartogahd.

Also, I picked up some cheap Elizabeth Arden eye cream and grabbed some JoeyNY moisturizer for $10 to replace my no-way-can-I-splurge-in-this-economy DDF.

If I actually lived in that town, I’d all up and through Marshall’s every stinking week. But I don’t, and my wallet thanks me. Still, I’ve got myTBYP resolution on track!

The Marshall’s/TJ Maxx on Fullerton had the Fekkai, Terrax, Biosilk and several other hair/face products when I was there two weekends ago. I honestly think it’s the fact that the ones downtown and in Lincoln Park get picked over within 10 hours of the stuff being put out…if you go to one that’s not in those high-traffic areas or out in the burbs, you’ll find their prolly similar to the Kalamazoo.
